24th October, 2009.

We awake to find the white topsides of the boat covered in mosquitoes. Time to go we thought so we hurried and left Bahia des Alfacs just after 9.30 a.m. for Torredembarra.  We sailed out of the lake and around Alfacs and the estuary of Ebro into the bay heading towards Tarragona. There were several bird watching towers along the shore around the lake as it is renowned for migrating birds to stop in the area.

We were admiring the large wind farm on the mountain when along came the wind.  We went from motor sailing for 3 hours to close reaching with two reefs in the main and 26 knots of wind over the deck, sailing up to 9.6 knots.  We covered the remaining 28 miles in 4 hours only motor sailing in sight of the marina as the wind died. We clocked 58.4 miles for the day.

Torredembarra is very nice with lots of restaurants and bars.  The very big beach which is next door to the marina appears to go as far as the eye can see has a large promenade with approximately 500 yards of sand down to the shore.  The marina gentleman was very helpful and friendly and the facilities appear very good.
