25th October, 2009.

We awake to no wind, had breakfast and started motor sailing along the coast.  35 years ago we had travelled to Spain in our Austen Maxi and camped with Mum and Dennis. Just along the shore from the marina at Torredembarra was one of the camp sites we had stopped at and even today as we motored past there were caravans and tents just by the sea with the railway running behind. Everywhere else there were now lots of new houses and apartment blocks but for the camp site it appeared time had stood still.

Lots of new marinas along this part of the Costa Dorada and some unfortunately don’t look as if they have been finished. The big sea walls have been built but you can see the concrete empty shells of buildings which have not been finished. Very few masts appear in any of them. Perhaps one day!

On the way along the coast we saw a lovely Parador and a couple of hotels which really stood out from the sea as being a little bit special.

The huge church at Sitges built on the edge of the sea wall looks very grand and well worth a visit another time. Tarragona didn’t look very inviting and we were pleased we were not heading to that port.

The Spanish love their fishing and today there were so many families out fishing in the beautiful sunshine all in swim wear we thought there must have been a fishing competition but after enquiring with the marina staff they were just enjoying the last weekend in October. The water temperature was 23 degrees still warm enough for swimming.

Just after lunch we motored into the marina at Ginesta having covered 37 miles.
