Travelled from UK to Athens
3rd September, 2020.
Covid 19 threw our year into a spin. First our March trip to Croatia was cancelled and then the British Airways flights to Athens there and back were cancelled. Luckily the September flight happened.
The 4 a.m. coach from Bournemouth to Heathrow started with the very nice coach driver taking our temperatures before letting us get on the bus. We wore our masks and were able to sit together for the journey.
At Heathrow our temperatures weren’t taken but it wasn’t long before we were up in the air in a very empty plane. The stewards handed out a packet of crisps, 4 small biscuits and a bottle of water as a way of sorry for no food. The crisps made Jim cough when they got stuck in his throat and the surrounding passengers all moved to other seats. Doesn’t happen on a full plane!!!!!
The weather was lovely when we landed and we were pleased to see the hire car driver and be on our way to see Ariel the next morning.
We had arranged to stay in an apartment for 4 nights to help us cope with the much hotter weather and to be able to relax after our busy days to come. Very comfortable and such a good answer to making life easy for ourselves.
