La Ciotat Sunday 30th May, 2010.

On Sunday we investigated the bus time table to Sanary without any luck and the helpful tourist information office was closed.  As we later found out it was a two bus journeys of at least 2 hours for about 10 miles. We could not get there by boat as the wind was howling although we had beautiful sunshine and it was very hot. We were just about to make a call to John and Diedy when we had a surprise mobile call to say John and Diedy were sitting outside a café drinking coffee in La Ciotat wanting to surprise us.  Thank goodness we were not able to get a bus earlier.

We met up at the end of the harbour cafes after Jim and I walked through the very big market which is both sides of the harbour road.  I don’t think I have every seen such a market this large before.  You could buy clothes, shoes, knives, fruit, vegetables, fish and meat. We chatted over coffee before we brought fresh cheese, bread, olives and a large wooden box of strawberries together with the items we had brought the day before we had a feast lunching aboard Ariel.

After lots of talking and catching up we wandered into town for a fish supper at one of the waterfront restaurants.  A good end to a very nice day as we waved our friends off in their car to their caravan at Sanary.
