Rolex Regetta Porto Cervo

13th to 19th September, 2010.

The gathering of the world’s super yachts at Porto Cervo, what a sight to see! Two of the only 3 remaining J class yachts in the world from the 1930’s, sailing and racing together.  The only other one ‘Endeavour’ is in the United States.  Soon after we arrived in the afternoon we witnessed the yachts sail into Porto Cervo and indeed this was a special treat.

The world’s finest Maxi yachts all between 80 and 160 feet.

In the evening we were able to walk around the marina (no security to stop us like the U.K) and wonder at the technology in front of us.

Two days later we were sailing past Porto Cervo at around 11 o’clock and out they all came full sail in 20 knots of wind, powered up and sailing at very fast speeds.  I counted 51 super/maxi yachts including Valsheda  sail number K7 and Ranger. The high tec. sails in front of us cost millions of pounds and the yachts costing a total of around £500 million, not including Valsheda and Ranger that are both priceless.
