Kioni, Ithaca.  Tuesday 10th July, 2012.

After a leisurely late breakfast we left Fiskardho and headed out of the harbour to cross to Ithaca. We picked up a large amount of wind and we were sailing well doing 6 and 7 knots until we were on the other side of Ithaca where we were moving slowly to Kioni and suddenly the wind disappeared and left us and several other boats all playing with the sails to get moving.  After a few minutes it came back as quickly as it disappeared but not at the same strength and we were soon sailing into Kioni bay.  Unfortunately, we were either to early for the quay or to late as the quay was full when we arrived.  We are now quite good at dropping the anchor and reversing up to the rocks.  Frank was out in the dinghy placing the chains around well appointed rocks and Ariel was very soon nicely positioned.  The afternoon turned into one of watching others trying to do the same.  Frank very kindly spent an hour helping an English couple who when finally sorted decided to move closer to the beach!  Needless to say they were spotted still trying to moor hours later.   Kioni is such a lovely village with beautiful walks.  No wonder people return year after year for their holidays and many enjoy researching and visiting the land marks for world famous King Ulysses.
