After we said goodbye to Gordon and Jeannie we spent a
couple more nights on Preveza town quay in order to fill with water, take the washing
to the laundry, go shopping and generally sort ourselves out. The music in the evening is more to our
liking and although it goes on until the small hours it is quite pleasant. We
were lucky enough to see a procession come along the quay with musical
instruments being played but they were gone as quick as they arrived. We could
not find out what it was all about. Jim
has been turtle spotting to no avail.
With everything done we decided it was time to move on and
make our way back through Levkas canal and look for the bay which everyone
calls “One tree bay” on mainland Greece.
We made the 1 o’clock bridge and along with fifteen plus Sailing Holiday
boats on their last day we motored along the canal and out into the channel
Dhrepanou and keeping over to the left and following the coastline we sailed
around the bay and found “One tree bay”.
It is just beautiful and has its own flock of sheep and goats with bells
with one tree standing at the front of the field overlooking the water. The water was so clear you could see the sea
bed and we were in at least 6 metres of water.
It did not take us long to be swimming in order to cool down. When
swimming I stayed still and the fish swam around me. When I fed them with old bread millions of
fish appeared from nowhere. It was so
pleasant and quiet it was lovely to have found a wonder place in a quiet
setting. As the wind was dying all the
time we decided to stay in the bay although it was open to wind from most
directions and we decided to risk it as the setting was just perfect.
