Unfortunately, as it was a very rolly night we had an early
breakfast and sailed the ten miles to Antipaxos Island and into Vrika bay. The locals say the beach has white sand but
we would say stony but the water is crystal clear of the lightest blue
colour. According to the booklet it is
one of the ten best beaches of the Mediterranean! It is indeed a lovely area
for swimming and having lunch but the day tripper “Captain Hook” boats come in
and let their passengers swim and the horn sounds and everyone boards the boat
and off they go on to their next bay of the day and quickly replaced by another
two doing the same. Two super yachts
stopped and ferried their clients ashore.
No one famous!
There are 150 permanent residents of this small island who
manage the vineyards on the west coast of the island. Among the oak trees on the island is a
natural spring which is bottled and sold.
The wine is suppose to be very sort.
The lighthouse was built in 1833 of marble.
The afternoon breeze kicked in and we decided to sail up to
Paxos and investigate the capital town of Gaios.
