With no deadline to get to Ascension and the knowledge that resupply of diesel in Ascension is very difficult if not impossible the temptation to use the engine to maintain progress is easy to resist.  We have enough wind to keep the boat moving but the day’s progress tells the story.  We continue to sail downwind with the wind lightening to 10 to 11 knots.  We have seen nothing in the way of other vessels since we left St Helena although we have received a warning from a boat ahead of us that there are Chinese fishing boats about with mysterious 10m x 1m floats showing up on AIS; these we assume must be net markers.  Excitement to come?
