Distance run 140nm over the ground, 150nm through the water

A strong and adverse current which was not forecast plus light winds.

A car carrier, Noble Ace passed within 1^1/2nm and whilst it showed on AIS there was no response on channel 16. It probably has a crew of 3 who were having breakfast. The two photographs give an idea of the swell – it was not sinking, unlike its sister ship in the Solent.
