Position 44:22.27N 068:47.55W Date 1650 (EDT) Tuesday 20 August 2013 Passage Run – 22.9nm – 19nm over the ground A visit to a farm ashore was organised for the morning but we opted out of this and spent the time gainfully employed on the boat sorting out our WiFi booster which had failed for the second time. Once again the earlier model was pressed into service but reinstalling it requires an amount of dismantling and re-installing. We left ahead of most of the fleet and headed north, around the lumps and bumps of Penobscot Bay with an adverse tide, at times running at 2½ knots. Some motoring as required to buck this but we were able to sail the last 10 miles as the afternoon wind filled in. The evening’s anchorage was Holbrook Bay, just south of Castine ready for a walk on Holbrook Island on Wednesday. We took the opportunity to gather some folks for dinner and we ended up with a very jolly party who dinned off a roast turkey breast and assorted trimmings. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers The Mate, Sid Shaw, Phil May, Rebecca Shaw, Andria May, Michael and Anne Hartshorn Replete |
