Those of our regular readers who have been paying attention – sit up there at the back! – may recall that at the ARC Prize giving we were awarded a trophy with which as a prize had a weekend at the Windjammer Resort Hotel.  They would not let us use this mid-week so we decided as a celebration of Elizabeth’s 60th birthday we would take the weekend just after the day, the 23rd.  Our first night ashore since last August.

With the boat securely moored in the Rodney Bay Marina we set out by taxi for the huge distance of 3 miles around the corner to the Windjammer and entered the unfamiliar territory of a “Resort Hotel”; somewhere we usually only view from afar and from sea.

What a great weekend.  The staff were really great, cheerful and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.  Our mini-suite had the obligatory balcony with ocean views:

and was very comfortable.  I had a really good internet connection (sad) and Elizabeth had the luxury of a bath (girly).  We took full advantage of our half board package and packed in two very good dinners and gargantuan breakfasts.

The return to the boat on Sunday late afternoon seemed very much like coming home – we had both enjoyed the weekend but really missed the boat.  It would have been a shame not to celebrate our return so we finished the weekend with dinner at “Bosuns” restaurant in the Rodney Bay Marina.
