We planned to left just after midday hoping to catch the afternoon breeze.  We did and it did not which resulted in motoring away from Belitung in a flat calm. The night was busy as we tracked along what appears to be the shipping lane from Singapore to Java and in particular Jakarta.  Most of the ships have AIS but the odd rogue Indonesian freighter does not.  Radar is proving very useful for tracking objects, in particular fishing boats.

We did however unusually for us have a sighting of a small number of pilot whales but they did not approach the boat and therefore no photographic proof.

A close encounter in a misty flat calm
