Exploring around St Anne

Date 1800 – 21 February 2011 In this part of the world and being at anchor so there is a decided
reluctance to get bicycles ashore, even of we wished to cycle up the near
vertical hills, exploring means walking. The first expedition was neatly nearly sidelined by retail therapy, St
Anne having a good selection of boutique type shops, however we did make it up
the very steep zigzag path, behind the church, lined with the station so of the
cross, to the chapel at the summit. A longer walk took us west towards the Club Med site that overlooks the
approach to Le Marin. This is a very popular beach with local families and looks
out over the anchorage. Monday was more serious and we headed east on a footpath that followed
the coast towards the south east corner of It is very beautiful with gorgeous beaches And views back up the coast towards Diamond Rock. The return was by road past the salt lakes that give the bay its name. In all about 7 miles – time to get back to sailing! |
