wind. We had a cracking good sail overnight to arrive at La Rochelle at
12:30 only to find that there was not enough water to enter the marina. We
therefore anchored and had lunch – what else would one expect!
Our boat was built by Chantier Amel in La Rochelle and it was here that we
spent our first summer with the boat. As we sailed down passed the Ile de
Re it felt rather like coming home, in a sailing sense.
We are now safely moored on the Amel pontoon in Porte de Minimes awaiting
the 14 Juillet firework show which happens on the opposite side of the
channel into the Vieux Porte, from where we are moored. On Thursday staff
from Amel are due to arrive to fit some updates to the boat and arrange for
spares and other parts to be delivered.
For our part we have decided to stay here for up to 10 days, take a
breather and sort out the storage of the boat and all of those other jobs
that were not completed before departure from the UK.
