Passage Run – 17.0nm – 18nm over the ground in 2 hrs 50 mins

In the previous entry I said that the weather had changed and it was blowing from the south.  Well that was obviously the direction in which we wished to go and as the weather had improved, i.e. it had stopped raining, and the forecast for Friday was not worse with higher winds from the south and fog we opted to use the afternoon to head south to Frenchboro on Long Island (Maine of course).  We did however have the advantage of a favourable tide which with the south wind blowing and a wind over tide produced some interesting overfalls between the islands.

We got into Frenchboro just after 1700 and were fortunate enough to pick up the last suitable mooring buoy.  We spent 10 very pleasant days here last year and it felt a little like coming home.

Anne and Mike with Nimue intend to join us tomorrow, Friday, in time for Saturday, when the forecast looks good for the annual Frenchboro Lobster Festival.
