Caduceus at sea

No logs were sent for the summer cruise.  We did however make it from Burnham via Boulogne, Cherbourg,

Alderney, Dartmouth, Plymouth, Fowey – where we were delighted to take part in the welcome home for Peter Goldsmith on completion of his circumnavigation in his Nicholson 40, St Barbara of Mersea.  Peter is pictured with his wife and our old friend Sue, who organised the “surprise” reception.

In Fowey we were joined by John Ridehalgh and Kate Saunders and their yacht Tumblehome and cruised in company via Falmouth to the Scillies. Tumblehome and Caduceus are pictured below in New Grimsby Sound. The mooring couplet of Caduceus and Tumblehome are just to the right of Cromwell’s Tower:

We were also joined in St Mary’s by Peter and Liz Clements and crew with Caronnade of Tortola.

We spent an excellent weather window of four days together in various anchorages in the Scillies before the wind turned to the west and blew us back via the Helford River, Dartmouth, Studland Bay, Yarmouth IoW and thence directly back to Burnham.

This was a great summer cruise and allowed us to visit many of the most beautiful areas and anchorages of the south coast of England.

Caduceus is currently out of the water at Fox’s, Ipswich having solar panels and wind generators fitted in preparation for our intended departure from the United Kingdom at the start of our circumnavigation in June 2010.
