Pam Wall, the Ocean Cruising Club (OCC) Port Officer for Fort Lauderdale had a fantastic job in finding an
apartment for us to rent for a month so that Elizabeth
could stay whilst I flew up to Norfolk to
re-commission the boat and sail it the 900nm down to Florida.
Writing this entry from the boat I realise that I do not have any photographs
of the lovely guest annex owned by Bill and Kamla Vandershoot that we have been
able to rent. I will update this diary entry to include those when I get
to Fort Lauderdale.
Suffice it to say we are well set up in a duplex apartment with a
balcony with views over a canal and obliquely to the Inter Coastal Waterway.
We spent a week organising a rental car and finding various things that

rquiews for her stay and that we require for living back aboard.
On Friday we attended a Seven Seas Cruising Association pot luck supper
where we were made most welcome and bumped into Ruth and Herb Weiss who we last
saw in Pulpit Harbour, Maine in July. They winter just up the
coast in Boca Raton and have invited Elizabeth up whilst I am
away.
The highlight of the week was an outing to the South Florida Scottish
Society’s Burns Dinner. A whiskey tasting by Diego helped the
evening along together with a great mini band performance and an excellent
dance band from Nova Scottia. The haggis was duly piped and addressed.
There was even a birthday cake.
