with a drinks party and prizegiving for the photography competition. Alice
having won the wild life category last year won two of the three prizes this
year, wildlife with a very colourful picture of a porpoise and life aboard
with a "still life" study of her mother asleep in the cockpit (not on
watch).
All who have taken part in this rally agreed that it had been a great
success, very much helped by the hard work of Richard and Boot Bolt who had
masterminded affairs in Torquay, La Coruna and La Trinite with efficiency,
enthusiasm and good humour.
Yachts were subsequently departing in their own time to make their own way
home at whatever rate was appropriate. We, having the furthest to travel
regrettably have to head for Ushant as quickly as practical in order to make
the journey up channel, hopefully via Guernsey.
We slipped from La Trinite at 0810 and with little or no wind. Using the La
Teignouse passage we left Quiberon Bay and headed NNW to leave the Iles de
Glenans to starboard. What wind there is, 6kts, is directly on the nose.
The only compensation for hour after hour of diesel is that it is restoring
the batteries after a few days of very intermittent shore power on the
visitors pontoons at La Trinite.
Note - refurbished pontoons with a 16a supply are promised for next year.
