A trip ashore to the Bucks Harbor Deli to collect some excellent bread, baked in house was followed by a visit to Annie B to see what a Nordic Tug 34 looked like.  It was most impressive and well thought out and put together; ideas for the future.  Mary and Peter the owners missed very much their Amel Super Maramu 2000, Norelia but circumstances change and Annie B is eminently suitable for their boating needs.  There is a splendid photograph of Norelia under sail at Bequia in 2003 on their bridge deck.

A short 3nm motor around the corner took us within sight of Castine and into Holbrook Island Bay to anchor for the afternoon and night.  The bay in the Holbrook Island Sanctuary provided an excellent anchorage to allow us to go ashore for a walk and we walked all around the bay as far as the Goose Falls and back, about 5 miles.

Holbrook Island and a large section, 1.200 acres, of the woodlands facing it on the mainland side were gifted in the 1960’s by a local lady who bought up the land so that it would remain as it was and not be subjected to development.

Whilst the marketing promises all sorts of wildlife, the best we could see was this little chap

Dinner á la BBQ was special and we have now found out what ‘steak tips’ are.  Garlic prawns, not BBQ’d, were followed by steak tips from the most excellent butcher in South Boston, junction of K and East 8.  Perhaps their tips are different but these were large chunks, 5 to a pound, of something between rump and fillet, excellent.
