An early start was required to get away before the heat set in.  This was a day of absolutely no wind.  It is fortunate that we are in the land of relatively inexpensive diesel, having had a 30%+ price rise in the last year the Americans may not think so but we do.  We are motoring far more than we expected.

There are lots of rivers flowing into Chesapeake Bay and the Sassafras on the eastern shore and shortly before the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal makes a useful stopping of place with enough depth for us.  We anchored off Kentmore Park, a residential village of 180 houses.  As expected after we anchored we had an hour of brisk wind before the calm settled back in for the evening.

Andrew and Celia joined us for sunset drinks as did David and Lyne from Moonbeam of Argyll with whom we were sharing the anchorage.

In an interesting bit of practical culinary planning the Mate insisted on roasting a chicken – suggestions by the Skipper that it would have cooked on its own by being left on deck were not considered helpful.  I am commanded, by the mate, to inform you that it was stuffed.
