Having an engineer organised for 1400 at Jolly Harbour we made an 0700 departure, carefully spotting for coral, for the 35nm to Jolly Harbour on Antigua.

We berthed at 1220, Andrew and Celia being on the jetty to help take lines.  Charles, the engineer arrived as expected at 1400 and having other work on agrees to return at 1600, which he did on the dot – most impressive.  After stripping the odd hose he found, as had I, no evidence of calking up and diagnosed a failed thermostat.  On test the thermostat would not open until just below 100 degrees C.  There being no spares on the island and this being something that I do not carry, yet, we cut out part of the thermostat.  I hope to pick up a spare in St Martin and it is better that the engine runs cool rather than overheating.

I bumped into Julian Berney, ARC boat Houdalinqua, in the marina and he joined us and Andrew and Celia for sunset drinks before we went out for real meat ashore.
