The small islands are worse off and nobody can get there by air. As we understand it most of the fleet is demolished.
Right now we are checking if we can help out by sailing over with supplies and maybe medical care.
We are checking things out and if you have the possibility to put us through to UNICEF or some organisation, pls help.
We have tried with Red Cross and we have become a Case Number on their list.
UNICEF Pacific has not responded yet, but they might have more than enough now.
The fastest answer has been from the Swedish Consulate in Fiji that has promised to get the information through to the consulate in Vanuatu.
I think we could organize a small armada from here to sail over, once we are under way we could be there in 3-4 days and reach the small islands.
The biggest challenge is the weather. We are still in the most intense part of the hurricane season.
So we have to consider that.
People tell us that people in Vanuatu are good at providing themselves from nature and will make it better than we would, but problems with kolera
and other diseases will grow as time goes by.
Ellinor thinks we will most probably be of use even at the end of April when the hurricane season is coming to an end.
