Believe it or not, but we made it today, Salsa left Whitianga after 9 months. We had to lift her out of the water so the new fitting could come on the propeller shaft. After that we took a 1 hour tour with James, the technician from PC Marine. It all looked OK so we got him off the boat and just took off out from Cooks Bay.
It was freezing cold, had to wear a winter hat and gloves. But the sun was shining and we were sailing downwind til we got out of the bay, then it was on the nose...
We had to say good bye to our wonderful friends Craig and Verena. Last thing they did for us was sunday, Craig took the kids to the cinema and Ellinor and I had a wonderful half day at the lost pools. A great spa. The greatest to be honest.
Now we are anchored at Little Bay at Waikawau, we just made it as it turned dark. Great sailing, the boat is in absolute great condition, the jobs done in Whitianga feels great. The engine runs smother than ever, it feels like a totally new system.
The kids have been playing cards today, it seemes like they cool down when at sea. Tomorrow is going to be a tough day, hard winds from SW that will be on the nose when we pick up speed. We will aim for Whangarei, we'll see if we make it there.
