"Sailing" from Australia to The Mediterranean Sea. We started from Scarborough Marina outside Brisbane 8 August 2021 and arrived at Paphos, Cyprus, 30 March 2022. Covering 10,392 Nm. The world circumnavigation is 21,600 nautical miles in length, measured by the equator.
We used our motor 1 155 hours. That means we used about 5000 liter of disel to get here. And it also means that we motored more then 50% of the way. Crazy!
We sailed to Australia and then basically motored back home.
Before getting to Australia we never used the motor more then a couple of hours at time. From Thailand to Maldives we motored more then 1 000 Nm in one go.
Yes you really need to have sturdy reliable motor in order to circumnavigate.
