Under sail, at last.

We knew we had a long day ahead, about 190kms in the Black Sea, to reach our first available safe harbour, Constanta, Romania's biggest port. So we left Sulina at first light, about 4.30 am.

Here, we are leaving the massive Danube Delta and entering the Black Sea. We were warned to keep travelling at least 10nm ( about 18kms) directly out to sea before turning South, because of treacherous sand bars.

Fred was beaming when all three sails were unfurled, filled with a light favourable wind and successfully trimmed. We are sailing!!!

A playful pod of 12 dolphins escorted us and entertained us for most of the first hour.
