Photos: Bali - Part 1 : Off to Bali for a Land Based Vacation
Bali We decided for our 45th Wedding Anniversary we would go back to Bali and relax for one week, no worries about weather, boat repairs, boat maintenance, groceries, cooking, etc. etc. We chose Ubud as it is quieter than most of the towns in Bali and you can get some great R&R. KL Airport This is the way taxis should be…pick you up with a pick you up! If we had known we had to walk 2km to the other side of the airport we would have tried to borrow this taxi, long, long walk especially if you go the wrong way, twice! We arrived at our hotel late into the evening so we just crashed onto our very comfortable beds, with the A/C at a very comfortable 27c. and a flat screen TV large enough so we can see the screen from our beds. Although these small hotels or bungalows are situated right on Monkey Forest Road – you step through the archway into the gardens and you can’t hear a thing except for the birds, insects and waterfalls. Best Pool Ever!!! The temperature of the water was around 27c, perfect after wandering around in the heat and humidity to just fall into the lovely and cool water, so refreshing. We have been swimming in water temperatures of 30c +. There were a great number of orchid varieties and many plants I have never seen before, like this one. Everything was so lush, after being there a couple of days realized it rains sometime during the night and early morning, then the sun comes out – we found very few days of cloud cover. This is where we could have afternoon tea, right beside the koi stream and pool. The ‘Dream Team’, they took care of us and our room the whole time we were here. These young fellows were so friendly and helpful, always asking where we were going, could they get anything for us and no tips for them…think about that!
