Photos 1 of Huahine
We arrived early in the morning so we could position
ourselves for the Eclipse. The sunrise did not look promising as the
cloud cover was rolling in fast. We stayed out far enough so the cloud cover didn’t
affect us as much as it would have if we were at anchor. Huahine is a quiet little town with lots of airstream
trailers being used as restaurants. We rented a car and toured the
island. Our first stop was at a Marae, these are places
erected by the people reserved for ceremonial activity, social and
religious. They are rectangular in shape and at one end there is a
platform or ahu with upright stones. I have included the information they have at the sites
– much easier to zoom in and read what you want rather than have me
rambling on and trying to describe all of this to you without drawings! |
