The aul out in Grand Manan was successful for handling the work that was necessary….and, the best part is its over…8 days on the hard…ENOUGH….good to splash this afternoon and now back in New River, New Brunswick, Canada…..after an enjoyable beam reach sail most of the 28 nm enroute…with a few whales for entertainment. Had my sister, Pat and my friend, Jeff, crew for the return trip to New River…good company makes the voyage short.

The people of Grand Manan were terrific hosts…my first time on the island and I was VERY impressed with their friendliness, good humor….and especially their incessant willingness to help assist in any way. WOW….how did I miss this Island for all these years when I grew up only 25 miles away…. as the gull flies over the water…..must have been my fear of ferry boats….which continues in present time when I am sailing in the Greek islands.

Cheryl and I expect to head to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard next week after labor day ...enroute to New York City for a visit with old friends and colleagues.
