Day One in Kalabahi, Alor....a photo record....
We followed the native boat into the dock. They built this dock just for us, it moved a lot but there were always many helping hands to get us ashore. We always feel very special when the town prepares a special welcome for us. We were officially welcomed to Kalahabi, Alor Island, first by the dignitaries and young people, then dancing. Who knew they did the chicken dance in Indonesia as well! After the official business was over we explored the town with Shelia and Stuart. We met some interesting people along the way! Stuart bought a phone for Shelia for $16.00, phones are something the Indonesian people can afford. The ladies sit on the sidewalks to sell their fruits and vegetables. The sidewalk hardware store. The sidewalk a little bit of this and a little bit of that store. |
