Back to the cruising life...within the next few days...stay tuned...
24 45.6 S 152 23.3 E In case anyone is wondering….YES…we are still alive ….and S/V Sea Mist and her crew are just about ready to start cruising north from Bundaberg. We have really enjoyed the Aussies whom we have met or reconnected with during our time since arriving here in late October. Terrific hospitality and great memories to cherish! We have a few final things to do before casting off; we expect to be away before end of the week and will likely head for Lady Musgrave Island as our first stop; we long for the return to clear/clean tropical waters and the snorkeling and swimming that go hand in hand with that enticing environment. We have missed all of that since arriving at the Bundy Marina where Sea Mist has been moored up a river with its brown, murky water…..and hidden bull sharks. Now it will become important to learn how to stay away from crocodiles…..that is one Australian feature that we don’t want to have “up close and personal”…..and the further we head north, the more ever-present will be the crocs. We will begin regular posting on this blog as we restart our cruising activity; the months ahead will see us move up the east coast of Oz and across the top to Darwin…a distance of 2000 nm. We are joining the Sail Indonesia Rally departing Darwin on July 28th > 3 months cruising Indonesia, then a brief stop in Singapore at the end of October before a month of cruising the west coast of Malaysia with the Sail Malaysia Rally to Langkawi by early December. The next 1 to 2 years will see us based in Langkawi, Malaysia ….and/or….Phuket, Thailand as we explore Asia and South East Asia by air and land. Back to you soon …..as the cruising and blogging resume. |
