Photos - Arriving Indonesia at Kupang
Indonesia On our way to Kupang we were entertained by the ‘fab four’ We arrived in Kupang, Pulau Timor and spent the next few hours getting indoctrinated into the intricacies of checking into the country and meeting the five tables of officials, ensuring we had many, many, many copies of crew and boat information the most importantly a boat stamp! The representatives of Sail Indonesia work very hard to ensure we sailors have a good time at every stop. We did two tours whilst visiting Kupang, the first day we visited a museum, a monkey house,( the house belongs to the couple who happen to have monkeys in their front and back yard), a visit to a musical factory...where they make the Sasandos. This gentleman has six sons and they all play an instrument and work with their father. He was showing us how to make a sasandos, the music they play sounds like Zamphir. Factories in small towns in Indonesia are not quite what we are used to. The museum had some nice examples of baskets and wooden statues. |
