After staying close to Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas in order to have ease of access to various boat suppliers, we knew it was time to move on and start enjoying the best that The Virgin Islands have to offer. We spent the last couple of days touring the various bays/beaches the whole way around the island of St Thomas and then, this afternoon, we crossed over the short distance to the island of St John where we are now moored within the Virgin Islands National Park at Great Lameshur Bay. The admiral is happy to be easily keeping cool in these pleasant bays where the swimming is terrific….no swell….and the only disturbances are the turtles surfacing for air at regular intervals around the boat. Tomorrow will be the start of shoreside hiking for the captain….great nature trails abound on this island that has been set up in everyway to protect the environment on land ……and off shore >  to the point of protecting all of the coral reefs and pristine bays…..the Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument. ….the boundaries of which encircle most of the island.
