Welcome to Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Lovely spot where we anchored just before the sun went down. Will explore
tomorrow the area tomorrow to find out what all the buzz is about as an attractive
tourist destination.
Had a most delightful time in the
Gloucester/Rockport area! We were made welcome by southern motor yacht
cruisers within seconds of dropping the anchor…and after a long evening
of drinks with other cruisers who were also invited onboard the owner’s self-built
yacht…we began to explore Gloucester.
Saturday brought the beginnings of a beautiful weekend on the weather front
(which continued today) and a great visit on-board Sea Mist with our nephew and
his girlfriend, her young nephew and her mom ……who followed up our
sailing experience of daytime Saturday with terrific hospitality over the rest
of a great weekend.
The highlight on the 92 nm northeast motor-sail
today to Boothbay was a NEAR collision with a whale…. who then decided
after we almost hit him that he should come up a few times on each side of our
stern to take a good look at “what the heck was that that almost
scratched my head”. Exciting!!....for both the whale and us.....and
then a few seals took a peak at us out of curiosity as we continued closer to
Boothbay harbor.
