Title: Hanging in for Cape Wessel and a break from this mess of seas

10 58 S 137 51 E

Since earlier today when I gave a report, the conditions have got heavier....seas up to 4 meters and winds about 25 kts True out of 150 M....making for much tougher apparent wind angle....and associated ride. We have continued to work at slowing the boat down...both sails are triple-reefed....speed is ranging from 8 - 10 kts over the bottom.

Next step will be to furl the headsail all the way in ....leaving the pole attached until we get snugly into the anchorage. Just TOO risky to go out on that foredeck to remove the pole in these conditions. With the apparent wind now on the beam, we can not keep the headsail deployed on the pole. We will likely finish up the passage with mainsail only.

It is now 10 pm and I am targetting 7:30 AM (Queensland time - current boat time) or later to arrive at the anchorage so that we we will have reasonable light conditions.

We have a time change here in the Northern Territory; we turn back our clocks 1/2 hour....that is correct > 30 minutes back compared to Queensland. This is a time zone move from being UTC +10 hours to being UTC +9.5 hours. I am sure that will confuse all of us a bit when we are figuring out time differences with family and friends in different parts of the world.

Back to the grind.....cheers, the Seamisters
