Title: POhotos: Road Trip around Nuka Hiva - Part 3

Everything was very dry, only the weeds seem to be surviving; I am sure this will all change during the rainy season.  Below you can see the difference between the bougainvilleas, one photo is from the lush area we started out in and the other is in the mountains where they need water badly.

We wound our way around these inlets, it took about two hours to navigate the rocky bumpy roads until we reached dirt roads again.

These guys were just hanging around the top of the mountain, before I took this photo they were on the rocks below them.  I have always wondered about old sayings, some just don’t make any sense, but ‘sure footed as a goat’…

We finally arrived at a pretty little village where we had lunch then went off to explore the archeological dig that crews from New Zealand visit every year to work.

The restaurant without a name.

Making breadfruit balls…donuts?

The motley crew.  Truly, a motley crew with some strange smiles…The food was very good, some had lobster, some had fish, and some had rice.  The porc au rum was finished, I think we all would have tried that.

Porc au rhum for next week

Next week’s dinner…breakfast and lunch!
