Reminder to selves to bring tools back from boat. General maintenance at hotel ignored for a long time. Loo door handle falling off- now fixed. Kitchen table very wobbly , at serious risk of spilling wine- now fixed. Wardrobe door still not fixed - wrong screwdrivers.
Lovely view on our long walk to breakfast.

Invited for coffee on board another Ovni 435, Hobo , a French couple and son had just arrived from Portugal. They came on board Scot Free to check her out afterwards!
Got to work again. Propeller rubbed down, painted with special antifoul, newly polished (ed. Lovingly by Anne) rope cutter refitted. All cocks checked and exercised ready for launching. Slight miscommunication and F got a shower with the remnants of the holding tank.
Had a well earned beer in Clube Naval While toxic overalls in laundry. Got chatting to a local, Alex, who’d personally experienced the storm which destroyed the pontoon. 8 metre waves had crashed over the sea wall( the part that hadn’t been reenforced) into the very calm marina. Don’t think the photo quite captures the ferocity.

Alex confirmed that the weather has been very strange, the water temperature is 4 degrees cooler than usual for this time of year, causing most days to be musty and overcast , perfect for working on the boat. Only heard this morning that there has been an octopus invasion off the Devon coast, attributed to warmer waters. They ‘re setting up home in the lobster and crab traps and eating the juveniles which would normally be thrown back in, wreaking havoc and decimating the shell fish industry.
