Mahone Bay Town (On the water this time.) Remember where the Mounties got their man?!!
There are about 300 islands in the bay. Spent Wednesday night at anchor off Backmans Island, this time off a lovely sandy beach but with loads of other people.
Always amused by the cormorants waiting on a rising tide until the very last minute to leave their rock. Sorry it’s not a winning pic but probably gives a flavour.
Off to Mahone Bay Town to pick up a buoy in the Civic Marina - the iconic three churches seen again at the end of the bay.
Arrived in time for the launch service to take us ashore for lunch at Oh My Cod! Fish tacos and lobster croissantwich hit the spot. Noted alot of quirky names for businesses and shops with a rather alternative/ hippy vibe. Mahone Bay is proud of the entrepreneurial spirit which is very much encouraged. “The Hub”
here offers coworking space and provides a platform that connects professionals to achieve and motivate one another. A better work/life balance is the aim.
Had a longish walk in and out of shops and galleries en route to the NSLC liquor store. Needs must, stocks were low. The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) is the Crown corporation which strictly controls sales of alcoholic drinks and recreational cannabis in Nova Scotia. It is virtually the last building on Main Street as you go out of town. Doesn’t encourage casual shopping.
The upside - it is opposite Saltrock Brewery - we knew their beer from Bridgewater. Today was all things lobster- including their latest beer, which F tried. Had a slightly salty tang to it.
Back to the boat via the supermarket. After a cloudy morning, a very hot and humid afternoon - 29 degrees down below on our return. Fans at full speed again.
