Set off in fog to motor 4 miles up the river to Bridgwater Marina, where we’d berthed in 2019. Chart plotter with radar at the helm is transformational. It soon started to pour with rain and drowned rats came to mind. It became apparent that the large berths were occupied but a chap on the hammerhead, his boat name “of” Manchester (turns out, not the UK one) suggested that we could share the space. The space was so short we overhung by half a boat-length. Had A stepped off from her usual place by the shrouds it would have been straight into the water. Luckily he was joined by the Marina Manager who braved the downpour to help us tie up and she divulged the vital codes for access and showers before heading home. Last time we’d had the hammerhead to ourselves.

Things have changed here. The marina has been bought by a property company funded by Saudi capital. The bylaws say the marina has to stay but things will no doubt change, if/when planning for condos etc goes through.
A very wet Father’s Day.
