How quickly the weather changes, today cloudy and 12 degrees and a biggish swell left over from Hurricane Lee. Same view as yesterday but very different conditions. Looks like we’ll be staying until the weekend before the weather improves, Hurricanes Nigel affecting the winds and seas and Margot, which far off, set up some big seas

Walked a huge distance today, to the supermarket to top up with provisions and back to the boat, for lunch. Quite a number of houses up for sale, not sure this one appeals with a garden consisting predominantly of Japanese Knotweed. It’s allowed to thrive everywhere unlike in the UK.

Set off for the The Ryan Premises, a preserved example of a large scale merchant operation in a Newfoundland outport, commemorating the fishery. The owner’s house was sadly not open. The 5 buildings are all original, The Fish Store is the main exhibit area, exploring the history of inshore international, Labrador and seal fisheries. This display commemorates the inshore fishery. Chatted with a lovely curator who told us about various local dishes, including flipper pie, seal flippers cooked with vegetables with a pie crust. Flippers are rather bony allegedly, no intention of finding out.
