Heard last night that soda blasting guy not arriving today but we needed to go to the boatyard anyway and speak to the rigger. Had to find the old blocks (15 of them) for him, somewhere on the boat or in the self-store, from the old setup, and then explain which bits we had or had lost. At $150 each we hope most can be reused.
First off through the quagmire to search the boat, not that there’s much left on it but there are a couple of bags of lines etc. No luck, so off to the store. 15 mins away, but needle in haystack springs to mind. They were found eventually.
Met up with the rigger and saw progress on mast.
The two pieces had been spliced together, spreaders and shrouds attached. Note the mast is being assembled in the clean, painting shed.
Note, too, all the steps up the mast, climbing the mast using caving gear was very safe but exceedingly strenuous. These should help.
Sailmaker arrived to check over the spec. Everyone very pleased. Should be ready to step the mast next week, so all booked in for Friday 12th. Splash down/launch also booked for following week 19th. Here’s hoping….
Dash afterwards to The Binnacle again in Halifax before they closed. We were their last customers. Managed to buy plenty of deck cleaner! and various bits and bobs at vast expense, as usual.
Amazon parcel arrived at the boatyard. So easy and didn’t use half a tank of petrol.
