Our berth in the “new”marina in Ponta Delgada which is very open to swell, so reluctant to leave the boat here while we return home. We’d have to employ someone to check the lines, if we have to leave her here.
(Ed. Shredded lines, broken cleats and bashed hulls are not uncommon. The local chandlery does a roaring trade in “mooring compensators”. They come as rubber shock absorbers at €95 ea. Or an ugly metal spring type at €135 ea (plus VAT). You need at least four of them.)
Enquired in Santa Maria, where the boat is going to be for the winter, but they are full due to a festival. Keeping fingers crossed that there’ll be spaces on Monday. Have booked flights to come home late Wednesday- all rather tight.
More boats here than we’ve seen since Maine in 2019.

Some cute pontoon boat Airbnbs in the marina plus more boat art.

Laundry day came around again rather quickly - not without incident, as A managed to lose the €6 ! token for the washing machine, 5 mins after the office closed for lunch. They take food seriously here, so had to wait for 1 1/2 hours before laundry could be started.
Ovni central here. An Austrian couple in an older version of ours moored alongside and we quickly met a young g couple who have done a very smart refurb of a 395 in Florida. They’re on their way to the med.
