Breakfast definitely better than reviews suggested, set us up for a day’s work. May find “same old” becomes boring by the end of the 2 weeks.
Fitted the newly re -stitched bimini, (the sun rots the stitching after time)
Allowed F to theoretically work in the shade in the cockpit on the windlass, ironically it has been foggy in the mornings. F had to sit on a stool in the sail locker for part of the job, then stand in the anchor locker outside for the rest. Putting new hip to the test.
Windlass serviced (ed. new oil seals fitted to stop oil dripping onto sail bags, filled with fresh oil etc. ) chain feed out, anchor attached and stowed.
The cockpit was filthy and had to be cleaned twice to get rid of the black grime, thought it came from the exhausts of the fishing vessels on the pontoon nearby. Subsequently realised it was probably black anti fouling from a neighbouring boat which had been sanded off. All the lines are filthy.
A has been busy cleaning the lockers and discovering considerable amounts of mildew. No strong cleaning vinegar available anywhere on the island before we left so hadn’t been able to wipe down surfaces, which has always worked in the past.
Returned to hotel only to discover that we had to change to the next door apartment because the air con couldn’t be fixed- even further to walk! Staff very apologetic but didn’t offer to help!!
An hour later, hadn’t energy to cook, so resorted to fast food in the bar all served with chips (crisps over here!).
