Left home 10am Monday, arrived back on the boat 11pm Tuesday. Second flight delayed but the car rental was waiting for us, fortunately. C is with us for 2 weeks so planning on doing some touristy bits.
Provisioning first thing on Wednesday morning , stocked up on heavy items while we have the car. Vihno verde €2.99 a bottle- very refreshing, so lots of those
Explored the south east of the island in the afternoon.
Praia Formosa, one of the two “white “ sand beaches in the Azores and the bay where we anchored on arrival at 3am.

Made our way to the Ponta do Castelo. lighthouse, also the site of the old whaling station. Whaling used to be huge here, now people pay to watch them. A single track down a steep hill, fingers and toes crossed we didn’t meet anyone. The hire car is very scratched and dented already.

Had an interesting return trip to the marina trying to follow a diversion due to a road closure. One turn took us to the top of Pico Alto, the highest point at 589 m high. A fabulous view but a dead end!

The yellow flowers grow in abundance here, yellow ginger lilies, an invasive species from the Himalayas.
It took sometime to return but C was an excellent navigator.
