We only have one large North American style gas tank for cooking on board these days (had 2 European Camping Gaz ones, but unobtainable here). Every store has pallets of 1lb propane cylinders used for everything here from camping to DIY. F knew there was an adapter (for emergency use) but couldn’t find it on-line. Used every sensible search term but nothing. Even Amazon failed.
F took taxi to Canadian Tire (the everything store) to buy all the bits and pieces for on-going jobs (dropping A off at grocery store to do a biggish shop). F delighted to come back with a “Steak Saver.“ Obvious really…….

At same time bought luggage scales so we can weigh the bottle to keep track of how much left. Ability to fill the gas bottle likely to be even more limited in Newfoundland.
Carla, who runs the marina here, popped by to give us a couple of her Canada Day cookies, as we’ll be missing the celebrations here next Saturday. A kind gesture.

F made first trip up the new mast. Steps supposed to make it easy but fraught with difficulty as the spare halyard hadn’t yet been fitted. He had to use another line and climb up the back of the mast which made working on the incorrectly installed deck-light difficult. Did manage to tie on flag halyards and move lazy jacks so they didn’t rub on the shrouds but now planning on taking the Genoa down to use that halyard, so he can ascend at the front and tackle deck the light face on and go right to the top to install the new Bluetooth connected Wind Instrument (should be fun pairing that…..) The headsets made communicating much easier.
