Preparations for covering the boat well underway. Having to do it ourselves this year, as Mr Shrinkwrap is very picky and will only do it with the mast off. As ours has only just gone on, reluctant to take it off so soon.
Boom off, small tarp at the ready to cover the companionway, to protect against any rain while we prepare the big one. Guard rail removed ready for stanchions to slot through reenforced holes which will be cut. Lengths of 2x4 to span the cockpit carried from the, thankfully, nearby hardware store.
A was instructed in folding the tarp to make it easy to install in stages and prevent it blowing away in the gusts. F used a 4’ x 6’ fleece bed throw, in the Airbnb to demonstrate. Funnily enough a 20’x30’ tarp is not quite so easy to handle.
Some precision measuring, followed by application of tarp-tape then precision cutting with a hot-knife at each stanchion or obstacle. A is now expert in removing the backing to the tape. This can now be added to her skill set!
Not much room to move in the cockpit. Limbo dancing would be easy in comparison.
Almost there! The dangly ropes are supposed to help prevent head banging (which now happens only 50% of the time)
