The outboard, which has always been super reliable, suddenly became a big headache. Launched the dinghy, lifted the outboard off, and balanced it on the seat frame so F could work on it. Diagnosed a fuel issue so,

Drained fuel from lines and carburettor, quite mucky, back on the dinghy, still didn’t start.
Off again, removed carburettor and cleaned jets - on again, still didn’t work

A late evening epiphany, after searching the internet for an exploded diagram of the carburettor, a tiny spring was shown which F hasn’t removed or replaced it. It must have popped off unnoticed. Amazingly found it between the slats in the cockpit. Off again, spring reinstalled, on again, the outboard sprang into life - a mere 3 days later! A had already been researching a replacement electric one!
