Left our own dinky lighthouse on the pontoon and cycled 11 miles to Port Medway, along part of the scenic Lighthouse Route, which follows the South Shore for 339 km from Yarmouth to Halifax.

Nova Scotia has at least 150 working lighthouses. The route was very pretty passing through West Berlin( formerly Blueberry?!) and skirting East Berlin( Pudding Pan). Beautiful rainbow coloured verges and hedgerows, but the road had seen better days with very many cracks and potholes sprouting weeds and grass -had to be very vigilant.
Kept being overtaken by massive motorised trike, seems to be a thing over here- think he was doing laps! Road surface didn’t affect him.
Had been very impressed with courtesy of Maine drivers regarding pedestrians and cyclists. A new statute required a minimum of 3 feet passing room. They always gave us a very wide berth! Not so here. Reminiscent of home and drivers being impatient to overtake.
Arrived in time for picnic on the wharf with great sounds from the Music in the Park opposite.

Bikes doing well. Helmets not so. F sported a very fetching black headband from the perished foam lining. A had cunningly preempted that by wearing a headband anyway! Both heads impregnated with mildew- life threatening? Don’t expect to be able to buy new ones before Halifax.
The Port Grocer in Port Medway is the hub of the community - grocer (basics), café/ restaurant, music venue, ice cream vendor, crafts post office.....
After ice creams and recuperation returned to Brooklyn Marina with still some juice left in the new batteries. So far so good.
