Well, we’ve made it into the Bras D’Or Lakes. Came through the canal in glorious weather. Hope the winter temperatures will not be repeated for a while.
An incredibly calm spot, used by many boats to shelter from the hurricane. A delightful young lady lock keeper and assistant helped us with the lines, then drove off to open the swing bridge to finally let us through.
All boats passing through this year are presented with a certificate, commemorating their 150 year anniversary. The transit was free of charge - most unusual.
Now in the marina just around from the canal. Sadly, we are too big long to be hauled out here. Good facilities and close to the town.
Massive number of pirate flags and pirate paraphernalia in the town. Turns out they had a Pirate Festival last weekend.
