Autumn seems to have arrived with a vengeance. Or has it? A glorious sunny day but a very low 8 degrees down below first thing. Heating on for the first time and thermal jim-jams will be at the ready from now on.
Wondering if the unseasonal temperature is caused by the neighbouring fish plant spewing icy water plus a lot of other smelly things into the harbour. The seagulls, at least, are very happy and don’t need to go far to feed. F noticed that the temperature beneath the floorboards, where the eggs are kept, was as cold as the fridge. Water in the tanks exceptionally cold. Can’t just have been a cold night.
Plan had been for a day of walking and exploring. On checking the weather, decided to leave today for an overnighter to benefit from the fair winds. The remains of Hurricane Idalia could bring strong winds and big seas to the area, so keeping an eye out.
A prepped supper and lunch to be eaten underway. Forecast for moonlit warm(?) night, so here’s hoping….”
F spent afternoon fine tuning the wind pilot to put it to the test, while A scaled the vertical ladder to do last minute shopping.
All paperwork through giving us a year’s permit for the boat to stay in Canada. Very efficient.
Leaving St Lawrence in the evening sun.
